Our bodies are like pillars that support us in everything we do. To keep this pillar strong and steady, it's essential to provide it with the care and attention it deserves. This blog post explores the importance of nourishing, moving, and resting to ensure that your body remains a sturdy pillar that can withstand the demands of everyday life.

Nourish

Nourishment is the fuel that powers our bodies. Just like a car needs the right type of fuel to run smoothly, our bodies require the proper nutrients to function optimally. Incorporating a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins is key to nourishing our bodies from the inside out. Remember, it's not about depriving yourself but rather about choosing foods that make you feel good and energized. When we focus on staying in the moment and being very present to how ewe are felling our bodies will guide us to making the right choices for our optimum potental and energy. Trying to make massive changes all at once can lead to over whelm and burn out. It is much wiser and easier to take mindful simple steps and incorporate them ever day. What foods make you feel your best?

For me I have. a very strong sweet tooth thanks to my alcoholism ( sober 40 years now). So instead of reaching for ice cream every night I have stocked my cupboard with Kashi Go Lean Crunch and Greek Yogurt. I mis these with some fresh fruit and it makes for a high protien bedtime snack. How can you switch out something that is not so healthy for something more nourishing at night?

Healthy Food Choices

Move

Movement is medicine for both the body and the mind. Regular physical activity not only helps us maintain a healthy weight but also boosts our mood and reduces stress. Find activities that you enjoy, whether it's dancing, hiking, yoga, or simply taking a brisk walk in nature. The key is to move your body in a way that feels good and brings you joy. Remember, exercise should never feel like a chore; it should be a celebration of what your body can do. One of the things I have enjoyed incorporating into my day is wild, free dancing. I put on a Spotify play list and just let go and it feels wonderful. Do you have some favourite music that ignites your soul and makes you want to move? Check out one of my fav playlists here.

Rest

Rest is often the most underrated aspect of self-care. Our bodies need time to recharge and rejuvenate after a day's work. Prioritize getting enough sleep each night and listen to your body when it tells you it needs a break. Whether it's a midday nap, a relaxing bath, or simply curling up with a good book, make time for restful activities that help you unwind and de-stress. Our evening routines are the most important routines of the day. It sets us up for success the next day and prepares our minds and bodies for deep rest. This is one of the easiest ones to let slide too. Our lives are hectic and some times chatic. We are over stimulated with information coming at us from all angles. Netflix binging ( one of my favorite escapes) can quickly turn into a habit if we do not keep an eye on it, especially during times of intense stress or trauma. Again baby steps are what is important here. Small doable changes that set you up for success is the way to go. Maybe you can prepare for the next day by choosing your clothing and food choices for the next day. Getting your thoughts out in a journal, doing an easy guided 10 minute meditation. Or one of my fav's apply a soothing essential oil to your wrists and doing a few stretches to work out the kinks in your body. I am currently adding back sipping on a soothing tea while journaling to allow my body to start decompressing. Our nervous systems can stay so diregulated and it takes a concious effort to bring it all back under control. But you are worth it!!!!

Finding Balance

Balancing nourishment, movement, and rest is the key to caring for your body pillar with ease and joy. Remember, self-care is not selfish; it's a necessary investment in your overall well-being. By nourishing your body with wholesome foods, moving in ways that bring you pleasure, and allowing yourself time to rest and recharge, you're laying a solid foundation for a healthy and happy life.

So, let's commit to valuing our bodies as the pillars of strength that they are. Embrace a lifestyle that prioritizes nourishment, movement, and rest, and watch as your body pillar stands tall and resilient, ready to take on whatever life throws your way. After all, our bodies are our most valuable asset, deserving of care, love, and respect. It is the place where our soul resides, it is our temple and deserves to be treated as such.

Remember, when in doubt, always return to the basics: Nourish, Move, and Rest. Your body pillar will thank you for it!
